Wheelchair Cross trainer

Wheelchair Cross trainer featured image

I’m writing today to support a very good friend of mine, Mike Box. We worked together to come up with a wheelchair that can be used in what normally would be “able bodied” races only. I participate in half marathon races. We worked together and came up with a few ultra-light cross trainer wheelchairs. Two were without any paint, just raw, so they were as light as possible and able to go long distances and used for various terrains that are also great for climbing hills. Mike and I went on this journey together initially because we wanted to develop a chair that’s not a track chair where I would be folded up and uncomfortable. I have participated in the Golden Gate half marathon, the SF half marathon, the Berkeley half marathon, and the Spring Equinox half marathon in Colorado. I now have my eye on the New York City marathon in the upcoming future.
I wouldn’t be able to even think about meeting my goals without Mike and his creativity to develop something new and customized for me and my personal journey which we have done with this cross-trainer chair, much like the skate park chairs for WCMX and the beach bomber.
Mike is one of those compassionate souls that will work with his clients just so they get what they so deserve to “push” forward. His heart truly is in the right place and goes out to the disabled community consistently, adults and children included. If there ever were someone who is doing exactly what they’re meant to do in life, it’s Mike Box.
Thinking outside the “BOX” is Mike’s specialty.
